Abbas and Anisa’s Muslim wedding
The Muslim Wedding of Abbas and Anisa was a two days event, which held on the 29TH and 30TH July 2018, in Kano state, Nigeria. It commenced with the Nikah/Daurin Aure as the Hausa people call it. The Daurin aure was done in the Mosque with the Imam; who consummated the marriage, the male Family members, Guests and Friends of the couple in attendance. In Islam, the Wali/Guardians of the couple must be present during the consummation and for Abbas and Anisa, their fathers were the Guardians.
According to the ceremonial rites for a Muslim Wedding, the bride’s father gives his daughter‘s hand in marriage to the groom’s father, who then accepts and the Imam prays for the union of the Couple. The Fatiha is then recited and the wedding consummated with the signing of the certificates by the Guardians.
Only the groom was seen at the daurin aure ceremony, while the bride and other female family members remained at home. Anisa awaits the daurin aure to be completed and she was also attending to guests who came to celebrate the big day with her.
The bride is from Kano state, she attended Lebanon school Kano. When we had a chat with her, Anisa told us how she met Abbas two years ago. “It was love at first sight and the feeling never left me”, she said. She knew he was the one for her because life is exciting with him and he makes everything seem so effortless. She realized there is a whole wonderful world ready to explore with him. Her friends and family members also had riveting things to say about the couples. Most of all, they were happy for them and prayed that Allah blesses their union.
At the dinner, everything from the decoration of the hall, the lighting, the wedding cake, and the menu was lavish and elegant. Anisa was dressed in red and black lace with her aso-oke properly tied; her fashionable shoes, jewelry and clutch purse. She said her outfit was inspired by her culture, family and a concept by Maigaskiya. Meanwhile, the groom wore a blue babar riga paired with a matching hula. The guests, family and friends at the event, expressed utmost happiness for the couple. Food was in abundance, everyone “slayed” their various outfits and life memories were made.
This one of the most fun and exciting weddings we covered. We wish Anisa and Abbas a happy and blissful married life.
